SOUTHERN PINES, NC — The HV3 Foundation is set to sponsor the 2024 First Tee of Central Carolina’s HBCU (Historic Black Colleges and Universities) Summer Internship in a meaningful partnership that reflects its commitment to fostering personal growth opportunities within the golf community. This innovative initiative is designed to nurture the talents of college golfers, offering them unparalleled professional and personal development opportunities.
Each summer, the First Tee of Central Carolina opens its doors to students from across the nation, hosting an internship program tailored for HBCU student-athletes. This comprehensive program provides real-world job experience with elite golf training, allowing participants to learn the details of running a community non-profit, refine coaching skills, and engage in professional development sessions to craft future leaders.
On the golf course, interns gain access to top-tier practice facilities, tournament play, and professional coaching, fostering a competitive yet supportive environment conducive to personal and athletic development. Jason Cox, Executive Director of the HV3 Foundation, shared his excitement about this collaboration, “The HV3 Foundation is proud to support a program that provides real-life opportunities for these students. This internship is a great entry into the golf industry and can help open many doors. We are committed to empowering young athletes and enhancing their prospects within and beyond the game of golf.”
A standout feature of the nine-week paid internship is a week-long, immersive experience at the PGA TOUR’s Wyndham Championship, where interns meet PGA TOUR professionals, learn the ins and outs of organizing a major sporting event, and network with influential figures.
Ryan Wilson, CEO & Executive Director of First Tee – Central Carolina, expressed his gratitude, stating, “It means so much to have the HV3 Foundation support our chapter’s HBCU Summer Internship program. College golfers face a tough choice in the summer between developing their games or focusing on their careers. Thanks to generous partners like the HV3 Foundation, now they don’t have to choose. This gift allows us to provide an amazing summer experience for these nine college golfers, who, in turn, can give back to our local youth. Thank you, Harold, and thank you, HV3 Foundation, for your trust and support.”
This sponsorship underscores the HV3 Foundation’s dedication to creating dynamic avenues for young individuals to achieve excellence. It ensures the Foundation continues to make a significant impact on the lives of the next generation, highlighting the importance of supportive partnerships in creating impactful opportunities through sport.
